To make it accessible for newer sewists and more considerate of fabric usage, the main skirt panels are drafted as simple rectangles—minimizing waste while keeping the construction clean and approachable. But don’t let the simplicity fool you—La Ciotat is carefully shaped to flatter. A softly curved tummy panel gently covers the front, and a proportionally graded rise gives the skirt a comfortable and balanced fit across sizes.

The double-wrap ties let you secure the skirt at both the waist and the tummy panel edge, adding a sweet, adjustable detail that keeps things in place while giving a handmade touch. SUGGESTED FABRIC

The La Ciotat Skirt works best with lightweight woven fabrics that offer soft drape and gentle structure. Because the skirt includes gathers and a flat tummy panel, using fabrics that are too heavy or stiff may create unwanted bulk around the waist and hips.

Recommended fabrics include:

Lightweight linen or washed linen for an airy yet crisp silhouette
Cotton lawn, voile, or poplin for breathable everyday comfort
Double gauze with its soft volume can create a charming look
Rayon, viscose, or tencel for a flowy and swishy version
Seersucker or light chambray for a slightly textured, picnic-ready feel

This skirt looks lovely in soft solids, classic stripes, gingham, or even small floral prints—especially those that evoke a breezy, resort-like feel.
