The Oatmeal Waistcoat is a timeless piece that can be a cosy addition to your winter wardrobe when made in a sherpa fleece or a chic layer piece for spring when made from a light quilted cotton. Layer over a long sleeve top or a cute shirt with a statement collar for the ultimate fashion statement!
Fabric requirements:
Size group 6-18:
150cm wide fabric: 1.5m if using same for body and bias binding OR 0.7m fabric for body and 0.9m for self made bias binding
115cm wide fabric: 2.3m for body and bias binding OR 1.4m fabric for body and 1.4m for bias binding
Pre-made Bias Binding - 5.5m
Size group 20-32:
150cm wide fabric: 2.1m if using same for body and bias binding OR 1.5m fabric for body and 0.9m for self made bias binding
115cm wide fabric: 2.7m for body and bias binding OR 1.6m fabric for body and 1.4m for bias binding
Pre-made Bias Binding - 6.5m
We recommend a pre quilted fabric(or you can quilt it yourself of course prior to cutting out), sherpa fleece, something with a bit of body that will hold it’s shape with minimum stretch. For the bias binding either pre-made bias binding or a non stretch cotton is perfect!
You will also need snap fastenings and 20cm of woven, iron on interfacing.
